Sordid Lives

For the first time in its twenty-year history, Encore Performing Arts is excited to put on their first play, Sordid Lives

Written by Del Shores, this comical, cult-classic play follows the chaos that erupts in a small town, deep in the heart of Texas, after the unexpected and scandalous death of an upstanding Christian woman. The three dysfunctional generations of the woman’s surviving family collide as they come together for her funeral. As the family’s skeletons, and more, are torn out of the closet, everyone must face the trashy truth. The ensemble cast hilariously explores the sordid, chicken-fried lives of trailer trash, served up with a generous helping of Tammy Wynette, wood paneling, and above all, unconditional love.

Sordid Lives will run February 16th-18th at 8pm in the Alexis & Jim Pugh Theater at Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are on sale now! https://bit.ly/EncoreSordidLives

Please note, this production contains material that is suited for mature audiences, parental discretion is advised.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

An eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming "ding" of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves! At least the losers get a juice box.
